movie review: keeping up with the randalls

Title: Keeping up with the randalls

Year: 2011

Cast: Thad Luckinbill, Marian Ross

Plot: Alicia Crosby is a hugely successful children's fashion designer based in Los Angeles. Her personal life is equally successful as Alicia suspects her boyfriend Will Randall is going to pop the question any day now. But first, Alicia must survive meeting Will's family, which means getting down and dirty in their family's annual 'Reunion Races' where she is up against everyone from Will's mom, Barb, his dad, Doug, his seemingly sweet Grandma Dorie, to even Will's ex-girlfriend, Kris.

My review: this is a made for tv movie. the commericals made it look really funny but it wasn't what i expected. The end was really good but the rest of it was kind of boring.

two new challenges

Well it is the start of the weekend and the end of a very stressful week. My hours have been cut down again. Next week I have 3 days and I get to try to get my medical unemployment working or to see if I can get on as a caregiver again. Not sure what option I will chose yet..

Five Question Friday...
1. If you knew your best friends spouse was cheating on them, would you tell them?

yes I would. cheating is wrong. I would not want my best friend hurt.

2. Soda in a can or a bottle?

I don't like soda out of a bottle. I prefer can's or fountain pops. Either or both will do.

3. What do you wash first, hair or body?

It depends on if I am taking a bath or a shower. If I am taking a shower, I wash my hair, then face, then body. if I am taking a bath, I wash my body and soak in the tub, then I wash my hair in the sink after.

4. What advice would you give to a new mama?

Take time for yourself. If you don't, you will not do yourself or your children any good. Be a parent not a friend...

5. What is your best hangover remedy?

Ice cold mountain dew, advil and sleep.

Boob Tube Babble:
What did I watch this week?
i have become obsessed with one tree hill. I have been watching it on soap opera network and I truly love the show. i have yet to remember the newer episodes are on Tuesdays on CW but eventually I am sure I will remember it.

We also watched the new series premiere of Roseanne's Nuts. It is different. I am not sure if I like it yet or not. It is nothing like Roseanne which happens to be my old favorite show. We will see. She sure does use a lot of swear words.

Gilmore Girls... I own all the dvds. When I am having a stressful or sad day, I generally pop in one of my dvd's and it makes me feel better. Being that there is so much needless drama going on at work, I have been watching a lot of those cds. It will always be my all time favorite show.

One Minute Writer prompt: Fiction Friday "torch"

Ok that is all for today. i will post my "torch" response before the weekend is over. Have a great weekend... Tomorrow  night we are heading out to watch one of our favorite bands. Will let you guys know how it goes.

a variety of things

I feel like I should apologize for not updating much in the last two months. The truth is I went back to work and because I was off for 18 months and so sick, my body wasn't used to it. My day consisted of getting up at 630am. Getting dressed, taking a muscle relaxer, leaving for by 730am since I am working in the next town. I have gotten it down to a 15 minute drive time though. Once I was off work, I would come home, take a bath and go to sleep. Nice life huh? Now my body is a little more used to it and so I have been writing in my pen and paper journal in hopes that I will transfer those entries into here. I have been doing Wishcasting Wednesdays, Sunday confessions, Five Questions Friday.. So hopefully you will get to read more from me now. Today I am going to post my answers from Five Question Friday on July 8th, 2011. (Yes last Friday)

1. Do you think cursive writing is over rated?
Not really. I love to hand write everything. My hand writing is a mixture of printing and cursive writing. In fact, people get annoyed that my printing and signature is basically me writing the same thing twice. I love reading a hand written note or letter. It is so much more meaningful and personal.

2. Do you still use a pocket calendar or notepad or do you keep your info on your IPHONE?
I am a secretary for a doctors office. I am one of the two main schedulers. We use outlook calendars as well as a hard copy schedule book just in case computers go down. Personally I prefer to use my day planner so I can write in it. I have one for work and one for my writing. I write my one minute writer prompts and other writing prompts in the personal one. My little blue one that stays in my back pack has my work hours and my mileage in it.

3. What 3 things would you save if your house was burning down? (People and pets are already safe)
a. my journals
b. my photos
c. my purple blanket.

4. Country mouse or City mouse?
definately country. I love going to the river or up into the mountains just to relax. I hate the city traffic. I hate shopping. (I know most girls love that stuff.) I would rather live in a small town where everyone knows everyone and is in everyones business than to live in a city and not know my neighbors. Yep, I realize I am odd.

5. If you could pick any reality show to go on, which would you pick?
I think it would be fun to go on undercover boss. I would love to see my office on that or the amazing race. I think it would be a lot of fun to travel and try to do those challenges. I am not sure if my body could handle it but it would be fun right?

movie review: just go with it

Title: Just go with it

Year: 2011

Cast: Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston

Plot: On a weekend trip to Hawaii, a plastic surgeon convinces his loyal assistant to pose as his soon-to-be-divorced wife in order to cover up a careless lie he told to his much-younger girlfriend.

My review: I loved it. It was so funny. It was a bit predictable but in a good way. The story line was like most chick flicks are but Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston made it hilarious.

movie review.. source code

Title: Source Code

Release Date: 2011

Cast:  Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Monaghan and Vera Farmiga

Plot: An action thriller centered on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.

My review: I loved it. It was complete action movie. It draws you in. You have to know what is going to happen. The end shocked me. Without giving to much away, but seeing Jake Gyllenhaal's body in the "office" brought tears to my eyes.

Book Review: Balancing Acts by Zoe Fisherman

Story 3 of 50

Title: Balancing Acts
Author: Zoe Fisherman

My Thoughts:
Yoga instructor just opened the studio, going to a 10 year reunion to promote business. Sabine is a publisher and wanna be writer going to the reunion to meet a man. Naomi is a mom to Noah going to find old friends and adult conversation. Bess is a reporter who is stuck writing captions of celebrities pictures instead of articles going to reunion to find the perfect story.
It was a slow read for me but I did enjoy it. I just had a hard time getting into it at first.

book review: Ask again Later by Jill A Davis

Story 2 of 50

Title: Ask again Later
Author: Jill A Davis

My review: Love the way it is wrote. She writes as if she is telling you a story instead of you just reading a book. Emily is so likeable. You just want to help her. At the same time you want to smack her. I love that she gets to know her dad. I wanted to scream when he dies. So not fair.

Would I recommend it? Yes
